At a recent information workshop at the South west College, Dungannon Campus, local businesses learned more about how to apply for an innovation voucher, worth up to £5,000, to assist them in moving their business ideas forward. Representatives from the Innovation Voucher programme were on hand to give advice and guidance on the application process and the wealth of resources, services and expertise on offer from both Invest NI and the InnoTech Centre.
Local business, Oran Oak Engineering Ltd also shared their experience of using the programme to design and market their new product ‘DipFast’, a sheep shower unit designed to protect the welfare of the animal and the environment.
Colm Kelly from Oran Oak Engineering Ltd, believes these events are very valuable to start up companies or to anyone with a new idea. “We attended a similar event to this around 3 years ago and it gave us the information needed to apply for the Innovation Voucher. Fast forward a few years and we are now exporting over 60% of our DipFast units outside Northern Ireland. It all started with an Innovation Voucher, it’s great to past on our experience to start-up’s.”
